Your private luxury house in Mosfellsbær
Stairway to Heaven sits high on the ridge, with the lowland opening out below and the sea on the horizon. Inside, board formed concrete and pale oak give the house a calm, architectural feel, while the double height living room and long bedroom windows keep the view close throughout the stay.
The house sleeps eight across three bedrooms and six beds, with two bathrooms and generous shared space for time together. Reykjavík is close enough for dinner in town, but once you are back on the terrace with the hot tub warm and the valley below, the evening feels entirely your own.

A full house does not have to feel busy. Mornings can start at different speeds, with coffee in the kitchen, breakfast around the table and room darkening shades for anyone sleeping later.
The kitchen is equipped for proper meals, with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, blender, drip coffee maker and Nespresso. Two bathrooms keep mornings easy, while the living room gives everyone one generous place to come together.
Spend the day as one group or head in different directions and meet back at the house. There is enough room for both.

Every level of the house is turned towards the view, so the landscape is never just outside the window.
Summer brings long light across the lowland and evenings that can continue on the terrace well past dinner. Winter changes the same view completely, with snow across the ridge and low daylight before the sky darkens again.
From late August to late April, clear dark nights can bring the northern lights overhead. The ridge sits away from the city glow, so when conditions come together, you can stay outside and watch from the terrace or the hot tub.

The view
Wide windows that bring the valley to life.

The living room rises through two storeys, with the mezzanine above and angled glazing at the top drawing even more sky into the room. It is the natural centre of the house, whether you are starting the day slowly or coming back together in the evening.
The three bedrooms are quieter and more private, with room darkening shades and a long horizontal window in each one. Even from bed, the landscape stays part of the room.
Six beds across three bedrooms and two bathrooms give a group of eight enough space to settle in without feeling crowded.

The private geothermal hot tub sits on the rooftop terrace, with a glass balustrade that keeps the valley open in front of you. There is an outdoor dining area too, so on the right evening there is no reason to move inside early.
In winter, darkness arrives early and the night feels long. In summer, it barely arrives at all. Around June, the sun sets shortly after midnight and returns only a few hours later.
Whether the sky is still bright or already dark, the terrace is where the day slows down.

Reykjavík city centre is around 22 minutes away, so it is easy to spend the afternoon in town, stay for dinner and still come back to a quiet evening at the house.
Sky Lagoon is also around 22 minutes away. Þingvellir is around 38 minutes, and Keflavík airport around 47.
For everyday stops, the supermarkets in Mosfellsbær are about 12 minutes away, Lágafellslaug about 15 and the Esja trailhead about 16. The road up the ridge is serviced all year.
