There is no itinerary you need to follow here.

Take breakfast slowly, head out for a walk through the surrounding countryside, spend the afternoon exploring Reykjavík, or stay exactly where you are. The house is made for the kind of days that do not need much planning.

And whenever you come back, the sauna and hot tub are waiting.

The experience changes completely with the time of year.

Summer brings near-endless daylight and evenings that seem to stretch on forever. Winter turns the landscape quieter and darker, with long nights and the possibility of the northern lights appearing overhead.

From the bed, the glass roof keeps the sky in view throughout it all. Morning light, passing clouds, midnight sun or a clear winter night become part of the room itself.

A wall of glass onto the open heath, and your own hot tub outside.

Sunset from the sofa, 22 minutes from Reykjavík.

A barrel sauna of your own, then the hot tub under an open sky.

After dark the skylight over your bed fills with stars, and the northern lights may join them.

At its heart, The Glass House is a retreat for two.

The bedroom sits beneath the glass roof, with a double bed positioned directly under the sky. The house also includes a fully equipped kitchen, a comfortable living area and a private bathroom, giving you everything you need to settle in and make the space your own.

A sofa bed allows the house to accommodate up to four guests, but for couples, it offers something particularly special: privacy, space and nowhere you need to be.

Some of the best hours here begin when you come back for the night.

Start with the heat of the barrel sauna, step outside into the cool Icelandic air, then sink into the hot tub beneath the open sky.

In winter, darkness arrives early and the evenings feel wonderfully long. In summer, the light barely disappears at all. Around June, sunset comes just after midnight and sunrise follows only a few hours later.

You can watch it all happen from outside or from beneath the glass roof without ever leaving the bed.

The Glass House feels removed from the city, but Reykjavík is only around 22 minutes away by car.

Spend the afternoon exploring, book dinner in the centre and still be back in time for a late-night soak under the sky.

Sky Lagoon is also approximately 22 minutes away, making it easy to combine a day in Reykjavík with the privacy and stillness of your own retreat afterwards.

In the countryside on the edge of Mosfellsbær, just outside Reykjavík. By car it is about 22 minutes to the city centre, 47 minutes to Keflavík airport and 38 minutes to Þingvellir on the Golden Circle. We send the exact address before your stay.

A car is the easiest way to get here and to explore. The roads up to the houses are serviced all winter, and in eight years Agla and Haffi have never been stuck at home.

Yes, on clear nights from late August to late April. The houses sit away from the city lights, so you can watch the sky from your own hot tub.

Yes, both. The Glass House has its own private hot tub and its own barrel sauna.

The Glass House suits a couple best, with room for up to four guests on a double bed and a sofa bed. Oak House Villa is the family favourite, with four bedrooms including a bunk room, and a high chair.

Yes. Dogs are welcome at The Glass House, as they are at Oak House Villa.

A double bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed accommodate up to four guests, and the bed sits under the glass roof. The house also has a kitchen, a sitting area and one bathroom.

Before your stay we send the address, directions and everything you need for arrival. The family lives close by and is reachable by phone around the clock.

Cancel 30 days or more before arrival and half of the price is refunded. The full terms and the payment schedule are shown with your booking before you confirm.

Two nights gives you a full day on the Golden Circle and an evening in the hot tub with the sky. A third adds a day in Reykjavík, 22 minutes away, or a morning at Sky Lagoon. In aurora season, from late August to late April, each extra night is another chance of a clear sky.

Not next door. The houses are on the countryside edge of town: the supermarkets in Mosfellsbær are 12 minutes by car and the restaurants of Reykjavík 22. Every house has a full kitchen, and most guests cook, eat in and end the evening in the hot tub.
